New Year's Eve has to be one of the best holidays for fashion. You can go a little over the top, test drive some of the latest trends and really take some risks. When it comes to selecting an outfit, I tend to look for high fashion... low price. When you bring in so much sparkle and fun, you don't want to break the bank, as these items don't always become wardrobe staples.

XXI is an amazing resource for the latest trend pieces – I swear they get the hottest looks even before the most exclusive boutiques! (Vaughan Mills' flagship store is not to be missed!) I really love the "Twelve by Twelve" vintage inspired collection located at the entrance of the store. My top picks for New Year's Eve from XXI: a super cute black bubble dress (pair with leggings for a more chic look), and a super saucy strapless jumpsuit – I'd layer on the necklaces with this piece so you don't feel too naked.

Another top shop for glam wear is French Connection. Many dresses, when paired with tights, booties and a stylish jacket, are just the thing for a New Year's Party.

If you do want to splurge on one item, opt for a footwear indulgence. STYLESENSE has so many luxury designer labels in stock and tends to have a very robust "evening" section.

So take a risk this year and have some fun with fashion! Happy New Year and HAPPY SHOPPING!!!

Sequins, sparkle, shimmer: this is the season to really have some fun with your wardrobe and play dress-up. A LBD (little black dress, of course) is tried, tested and true, but it doesn't have to be boring. An especially great option if you have many events to attend, the little black dress serves as a canvas that you can easily glam up with over-the-top jewellery, patterned tights, and fantastic shoes.

But also, consider wearing something a little bolder for the holidays and experiment with colour and silhouettes. A variation on the traditional men's tux for women is not a new concept, but the look is so current and stands apart from the crowd.

Whatever you choose to wear, wear it like the fashionista that you are! Have a wonderful holiday season and we'll see you in the New Year! xo
