With summer coming to a close and fall just around the corner, switching up your favourite outfits can be tricky and expensive. So, our style mission for this episode was to demonstrate how you can make your wardrobe totally adaptable from one season to the next!

We shopped for items that can be added to a summer wardrobe to make it fall and winter friendly. Getting these dual-duty outfits is easier than you think – if you follow a few guidelines. First, shop for items that can be layered: thin long sleeve cotton shirts (we found some at Mexx Outlet), pashmina-style scarves, lightweight tights, fitted blazers, cardi-wraps (BCBG carries a wide selection).

Next, pull all your warm-weather favourites out of the closet and carefully look at them next to your "layering items". That cute maxi-dress? Get it ready for the cold weather by adding a thin cotton shirt underneath and topping it with a soft pashmina. Your basic black summer dress? Throw on a cardi-wrap, swap your silver jewellery for gold-tone styles (silver looks best in the summer time), and add a pair of tights. If you normally wore a pair of open heels with a summer version of this outfit, try the heels on again with the tights. You'll be surprised how chic it looks. If it's mucky outside, try a pair of above-the-knee black boots (we found a huge selection at Town Shoes Outlet) or super-hot ankle length booties (Rudsak had the best pair we've ever seen!).

Always remember to think "out of the box" when you're re-styling your wardrobe for new seasons. You'll be amazed how some pieces can carry through from one to the next.

P.S. We also went on a special shopping mission this month with Julie, the winner of the Virgin Radio 99.9 Vaughan Mills shopping spree. Armed with a $2500 VM gift card, with Afiya and I as her personal shopping assistants, she came away with an amazing new wardrobe! Be sure to check out the highlights at the end of this episode.

Entering a new season has always felt like a fresh start to me and this is the time I usually revamp my wardrobe. The problem – what to do if your style ambitions exceed your seasonal budget? Well that's when you get creative and repurpose the pieces that are already in your closet into new outfits ready for new climates.

First things first, I love to take inventory of what I already have. It's amazing how many times I've come across pieces that I totally forgot about or had my love for an item re-ignited. Then I edit out clothes that have seen better days or that I know I won't wear anymore. Doing this makes it easy to see what essentials are missing from my wardrobe and these are the pieces that I will shop for.

From here, it's time for some mix/match experimentation to come up with new looks for the cooler season. Layering is key, but you want to make sure to not add bulk.

The stand out piece we chose for this episode was a light summer dress we found at Mexx Outlet that's universally flattering and a fairly standard piece in most closets. By pairing it with a simple white dress shirt, opaque tights (great colours at Benetton Outlet) and a scarf we reinvented this piece to create a look that could definitely be worn throughout the cooler months. Poof! A brand new outfit that's easy on the wallet!

Speaking of fresh new outfits, our new friend Julie now has a pile of them! Julie was the winner of the Virgin Radio 99.9 Vaughan Mills shopping spree contest and we spent an afternoon helping her spend her $2500 VM gift card. Just one of the many perks of being a dedicated Style Agents fan!
